Digital caricatures are a sensational way of entertaining clients and guests at any function. They make for an original and exciting display at exhibitions, or distinctly modern walkabout entertainment at drinks receptions.
General Information
All equipment and WIFI can be supplied by the artist.
For Walkabout events, the devices are all mobile. The only requirements are reasonable lighting conditions and close proximity to the guests.
For Big Screen events, the artist’s own set up is extremely compact and wireless wherever possible. There are 3 main components: a digital tablet, a printer and a LCD monitor on a stand.
Equipment
Christian uses Sketchbook Pro on a Wacom drawing tablet or an iPad, but is equally adept with Samsung Galaxy or Microsoft Surface.
Completed caricatures are printed on 4 x 6 glossy postcards, using a compact printer. These are dry immediately and are placed in a clear plastic sleeves to attach to lanyards or ID clips.
As they’re drawn, the caricatures are projected onto a vertically oriented LCD screen. The artist’s own is 32’ and sits on a stand with a 70 x 70 cm footprint.
It is possible to use other devices, interactive screens and software, but some time may be required beforehand to develop a smooth work flow. The tablet can connect to most large external displays and monitors, as long as it has a HDMI video port or Smart TV facilities. Christian is happy to work with clients’ own appliances, as long as they’re set up correctly. For full technical specifications, or to tailor the apparatus to your event, please get in touch.
Client Requirements
An electrical outlet is essential. All other cables are supplied by the artist and, where possible, kept to a minimum. Other provisions include two chairs, a location that ensures a screen view and protection from the elements.
Images
The digital images are supplied as Jpegs. These can be delivered by email, Bluetooth or posted to social media. After the event, the sketches can be made available for download on digitoons, or hosted on your own website.
Emails can be sent with a personalised signature, contact details or marketing material. It is also possible to use the client’s own email account. Any captured data can be supplied to the client and will not be used by the artist for any other purpose.
Company branding and contact details can be added to any sketch. Custom backgrounds or cartoon bodies can also be created for the caricatures. Most designs are free of charge, but more complicated themes may incur an extra fee.
The Numbers Game
Christian will always draw as many people as possible in the time allowed. Each person is unique and the time they’ll take to draw depends on how well behaved they are and the event environment. Typically, Full colour digital caricatures take between four and eight minutes (8 to 12 per hour). Black and white caricatures take three to six minutes (10 to 15 per hour).
Travel
Christian draws at events all over London, UK and overseas. Reasonable travel costs are factored into the fee and accommodation is not usually required within 100 miles of London for a single event. For international events, the client is expected to pay for flights, transfers and hotels.
Fees and Booking Information
The artist is paid to draw for an agreed amount of time. The caricatures are free of charge to the guests and Christian will never ask them for any further payment. The fee depends on where and when the event is and for how long he is there. To reserve a date, clients are required to complete a booking contract and pay a deposit. The fee can be paid by paid by cheque, Paypal or bank transfer. For all pricing enquiries, please get in touch.
